Effing Worms [Game Walkthrough and Review]

Effing Worms

[Play Effing Worm]Game Description: Eat sh*tloads of stick figures playing as gigantic worm. Maybe if you eat enough people, you’ll grow up to be big and fat like daddy worm. See how big you can become. Keep in mind I’m still working on the game and will be improving it based your feedback. Effing Worms is a unique minigame/arcade [I guess you can call it] much like the popular game Death Worm, in which [for both games] you control a massive worm and terrorize stickmen, growing bigger and bigger [such as the classic game Snake or Feeding Frenzy]. Your goal is to become as big as possible without dying from nuclear devices [atomic bombs, missiles, landmines, ect].

As your Worm grows larger and larger in this action-packed game it becomes more difficult to stay alive, as nuclear weapons become more frequent, causing large sums of your life to be depleted. The game starts with very few creatures to much on, but later advances in a much more complex and intricate system of enemies, create a very frantic scenario, in which you must avoid and destroy tanks, fighter jets, aircrafts and much more. Possibly the hardest part of this game alone is how your worm grows bigger every minute! As you size increases, dodging those missiles and land-mines becomes more of a challenge than you may have earlier foreseen.

One of the best things about Effing Worms is that it’s so frantic and action-packed, the last time I played a game this frantic was Frantic 2 [no pun intended]. My favorite part of this would have to be the change in growth from your starting Worm compared to a Worm after playing for 10 minutes, the worm changes dramatically giving the game a Snake idea, in which sometimes getting bigger isn’t always the best idea, but yields better rewards [score, kills, speed, ect]. I would compare this game to Jumpcat [even though my opinion towards Effing Worm are much better] it’s got cartoony graphics and it a side scroller.

Effing Worm

The graphics are exactly what I was hoping for in this game, they’re not the best, but they suit the theme extremely well and almost make you feel in a unique world, much like Earth. The graphics remind me of Nuclear Eagle [though my computer blow up playing that game, no pun intended]. The graphics are simple, yet effective, both featuring you killing small innocent stickmen, with an unusually large critter. I’d also have to compare the graphics and gameplay to IndestructoTank AE, which in comparable by combos, graphics and a couple other factors.
The sound effects work extremely well with the game. The sweet sounds of people screaming their heads off and explosions fill the scenes with exactly what you’d hear if this actually happened [would not want to be there]. Unlike other games where multiple sound effects lag you computer to hell, this game maintains crisp and smooth movement, un-muted so that it doesn’t ruin the quality of the game [there is a mute button].

The difficulty ramp in this game was just perfect! The game starts in a kind of farm community with domestic animals [mainly cows] and then moves onto hangliders and then fighter-jets, aircrafts and other vehicles of war. This is one of the smoothest difficulty ramps I’ve ever seen and it still gets you into the action of the game relatively quick. Another thing I like about this game is that there are checkpoints, these checkpoints allow you to [even after you’ve died] to start back at that point so even if you die you can start relatively close to where you croaked.

Right now in the game there is really no re-playability, urging you to come back to collect that final award or medal. If you want me to come back to a game you need to add some sort of re-playability [ in-game achievements, levels, ect] this game posses none of those qualities. This is a note from the developer of Effing Worms towards that fact, quote:

“Edit: Ok I hear you guys, it needs upgrades or something to make you keep playing. For now I overhauled the growth system and increased it by 7 times. The worm’s size can get pretty ridiculous, maybe too ridiculous. Anyways I’ll work on it more in the morning.”

So hopefully EffingGames will have up the new version soon, that’ll definitely bring me back for another run through the effing town [no pun intended].

Overall I though Effing Worm was a terrific game, it provided beautiful graphics that suited that extremely well, a well fitted sound system was also in place. The difficulty ramp was just perfect and still got you into the action-packed part of the game with ease. All in all the game was amazing, it possesed everything that I’d love to see in a game and then added more, awesome game, be sure to check it out! [Play Effing Worm]

The Enchanted Cave [Game Walkthrough and mini Review]

The Enchanted Cave

[Play The Enchanted Cave] Game Description: Enter the Enchanted Cave and collect artifacts, stat gems, and gold. Use the Escape Wings to become stronger every quest. Try to reach floor 100!The Enchanted Cave is a unique, retro styled RPG, adventure game in which you control a young hero on his quest to the 100 floor in a monster infested cave. Along the way you’ll collect powerful weapons [and spells] and armors to fend off the waves of enemies appearing on each floor. Take control of your character, and slash your opponents to shreds!

The game is very straight-forward, and doesn’t exactly include any exact story-line. On each floor you fend off a wave of critters and creatures, with the weapons you bought, or earned off of treasure chests! Not to sound lazy, but the battle system is so simple! I think it really define casual gaming, being so simply, you can almost relax to you killing critters, [it’s a beautiful thing]. Check out the walkthrough below:

Chaos Faction 2 [Game Review & Walkthrough]

Chaos Faction 2: Level 2.3

If you’re looking for a game like Super Smash Bros Brawl, look no further than Chaos Faction 2, an intense fighter, beat em’ up game in which you go level to level fighting random people, to name a few are Monkeys to Zombies to the local bully, you’ll find yourself in countless different situations in this game. Chaos Faction covers 15 intense, unique campaign mission, each level awards you with new characters and weapons you can play as or use throughout the rest of the game (my favorite is the polar bear character!). Chaos Faction is a pretty simple game overall, but provides a fun and unique atmosphere throughout the entire game with different and entertaining levels each time, in one instance you may be showing off monkey from a tribe or protecting a construction site, either way this game is chalk-full of unique mission! My favorite part of this game may be the quick, action packed fights in each level, as seen in similar games (Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros Brawl, and other fighting games).

A few problems I faced in the game was that there’s so much going on during a fight, lasers left and right, explosions, crazy fighting moves and all that gets me lost in finding where my character went! Probably why I get suited up as a polar bear every time I go out, or else I get caught up with everyone else. This is especially noticeable in the first level, when everyone looks, practically, just like you. Another slight error I faced, seemed to be simply a glitch in the game, at certain times, you’re not able to control you character and you just stand there as your enemies take swings at you. The only thing that disappointed me in this game was actually the lack of difficulty, I practically breezed through each level the first time, and if it wasn’t the first time it was the second after I’d learned the tactics needed to complete the challenge.

Overall I thought the game was very addictive, though didn’t maintain any difficulty to me (weird how that works, isn’t it?). The game was a bit too fast paced for me though, or possibly I feel this way because the controls are a bit questionable whether their any good or not. My favorite part of the game, besides the amazing battle engine would have to be the multiple characters, believe it or not there are 45 characters at your disposal, (which reminds me of the Thing-Thing series), which are all customizable (which once again reminds me of Thing-Thing). Chaos Faction also has an in-depth level editor/creation, it brings up my memories of, for countless hours standing at the Wii, editing Super Smash Bros levels, for me.

Chaos Faction 2: Level 3.3

I’ve come to the conclusion that the graphics are excellent, I love the cartoon flavor, which seems to toss you into another world, makes you feel foreign which is quite hard to intimidate into someones mind. The sound is really genius, there’s sound for just about everything you could imagine hearing in these scenes in real life, and help set the mood for the land you are in.

The default controls are extremely easy for everyone to master, especially since you can edit any of the controls to anything you want, heck you want you movement style to be 1, 3, 3, 7, sure go ahead I don’t care! Not a lot to say about the controls here, since it’s nearly impossible to create a good fit for yourself.

There is little re-playability here for me at least, there’s in-game achievements and stuff, but I’m really not that hooked to go for them, they’re more like milestones. Although the game is mildly entertaining, I would have to say, I’m not coming back for a run down memory-lane anytime soon, unless I was interesting in making a level, though the game dramatically limits you to what you can make, I could see the maps being bigger, that would in my case or hypothesis would allow people to be more interested in making a more complex, intricate levels which would bring people back again for another run.

I thought Chaos Faction was an insanely good remake of some of the more popular games, though it then adds a spin on and creates a whole different experience, this is what I like to call an “Original remake”, which like I said creates a different experience from what I feel is a remake of an older game. The graphics and sound were incredible, and some of the best I’ve seen for a cartoony atmosphere. As fun as the game is, there is little replayability, that would keep me from coming back. Anyway that wraps it up for Chaos Faction 2, I hope you enjoyed our review! -Play Chaos Faction 2 here!

Cursed Treasure: Don’t Touch My Gems! [Game Review & Walkthrough

Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems!

Cursed Treasure: Don’t Touch my Gems! is a game where you protect your gems from the hero’s or good guys, while controlling the forces of Orcs, Undead and demons! This game is unique compared to other tower defense games, because each tile has a different element, for example Crypts (Undead) can be played on Snow tiles, while Temples (Demons) and Dens (Orcs) must be places on different types of tiles (Dirt and Grass). These tiles allow the game to take on several strategies throughout each level, providing a unique experience, differing from the other tower defenses. Another interesting thing I found about this game, was that, tower leveling is based on experience, not money, I like that fact, because every turn you must prepare for the future, instead of just buying yourself a super-buff tower.

Something that I viewed as, possibly the toughest problem in the games was simply the ability tree. Unless, you actually know what to do in the beginning of the game, and have possibly played the game once before, it’s tough to know what to invest your precious points in! I believe that unless you can know how to take control of your ability tree, that you won’t be as succesful later on in the game. One thing that I view as a difficulty of this game, were the Ninja hero’s, which I think are exceptional for the game, they add a ton of difficulty and I feel that without them this game wouldn’t be as challenging. If I were to remake the game, I would add a couple of more difficult enemies that act as a spread cross-breed of the ninjas’ and remake the ninjas’ less difficult.

Unlike other games, all the towers in Cursed Treasure are totally balance in my opinion, you can argue that the Crypts aren’t that great because of their slow fire rate, but they make up with their Chilling moves, which scare off a number of hero’s every wave. Or, that the Temples, don’t have the best range, but obviously make up for their terrific fire rate and circle attacks. The most rounded tower is the Den, which is made up with a basic range, a cross-breed between the Crypts and the Temple, the Den is a pretty well-rounded class.

Cursed Treasure Don't Touch My Gems!

I think the graphics were amazing! These graphics would have to be by far some of the best I’ve seen for a tower defense, let alone some of the best graphics I’ve seen for most games. I thought the graphics were, just terrific, (although it’s only about 10-15 different sprite). I thought the sounds, just might be better than the artwork, the sounds are realistic and really set the scene and mood for the game and the background music carries a ledgendary tone to it which could describe a scene, right before a large war. I love the sounds so much, because they don’t leave much out, I’ve seen a couple of great games, that I could down-rate simply because they forget some sounds that I thought would better set the mood, but Cursed Treasure includes detailed sounds like warcries or screams.

The difficulty ramp is okay, in my mind. I remember a couple of times in which I had to farm on a specific level for an hour or so on end, just to gain the proper abilities and skills to conquer the neighboring level. After a while once you’ve gotten a good variety of skills, you can plow through most of the levels later in the game, but definitely, the earlier level took a little more work.

There is a ton of replay-ability in this game, even though it does not contain any in-game achievements, but instead the game itself is one of the most addictive games on the web, no wonder theirs been over 2,000,000 views, just this month. The game is so addictive mainly because it’s insanely well planed-out and probably since it’s a tower defense, it’s almost impossible to mess up a good defense game. Cursed Treasures is addictive because it’s so different from some of the tower defense before itself, when was the last time you’ve seen a defense game with an Ability Tree, or leveling up based on experience, I have only once, but Cursed Treasure in my opinion is by far the best Tower Defense to date.

Overall, Cursed Treasure is an addictive tower defense game, which used strong vibrant art, mixed with perfect sound that sets a terrific mood to the game and makes you feel as though you are actually there. All, in all the difficulty ramp was a bit crooked in my opinion, it was tough throughout the first couple of levels, especially if you didn’t properly use your ability tree correctly. The game extremely fun and entertaining throughout the whole entire experience, when you get a couple of minutes, you’ll want to play this game – Cursed Treasure: Don’t Touch my Gems!

Blosics 2 [Game Review & Walkthrough]

Level Six

Blosics 2 is an addictive, physics, puzzle game, in which you fire balls, to know over green blocks off the screen. I’d imagine this game as a mix between Remove Red and Pyro or Fragger, to name to subgenres of aiming/physics games, that I happen to name off the top of my head, each containing a somewhat, interesting addictive flavor. Many games such as this one contain no exact story-line, which I can’t actually image one for such a simple game. Each level you attempt to knock all the green blocks off the stage (which you then gain points), as you avoid hitting the red blocks off, which cause you to loss points.

This game is extremely addictive, but at the same time, continues a somewhat difficult pattern through each level. The only game that comes to mind when I think of the difficulty in this game, is Meat Boy, (Note that I’m practically a Meat Boy master) which usually takes multiple times to beat a level, but still some how makes you continue, as frustrated as you may get. The point system works like this, knock a green square off, add points, but if you knock a red square off points are deducted. Sometimes it may be almost impossible to not tip over a red block.

I thought this game was actually pretty difficult throughout the entire game, I can’t stand those games, in which you breeze through the first fifty level and all the sudden they amp up the difficulty to an extreme, unlike those games Blosics 2 maintains a perfect difficult ramp, which gentle leads from the average player, to the avid gamer to test you skill. So games (that I’ll not name) have terrible physics, a wooden crates turns out to weigh a pound (453 grams) or a small marble being 100 pounds (4530 grams), but this game clearly masters physics and executes it perfectly in the game.

Level 14

Overall, I thought the graphics were amazing, yet simple. The graphics of Blosics 2, somewhat reminds me of Jelly Blocks, except a little bit better, obviously. The music is very peaceful and for some reason reminds me of Golden Sun, or some other RPG in a little town. The sound effects are spot on in this game and are, easy to listen to with the music in the background.

Blosics 2’s controls are very simple to follow and almost anyone can master them within minutes of playing. The game is completely controlled by the mouse and requires almost zero-reaction time (for all you old people, eh?). Imagine, when you pulling back on a bow-string, about to fire an arrow, pulling away from the object (arrow) at a great distance will make the arrow fire in the opposite direction of the stress build-up in a great velocity, but pulling the string back, with less power, will result in less velocity. So just imagine the game like that, OK?

Blosics 2 sadly in my opinion has little re-playability value, except for possibly the Mochi Leaderboard, which tracks what people have score what overall in the game. Although that may be a great reason for some people to spend another three years on this game and then it ends up on Yahoo news for some crazy world record thing, I don’t care; I’m not biting. Aside, from the Mochi Learderboard, there’s really no achievement system, which would have been cool, there’s no “You did a great job score 1337 points, nothing! Not relating to re-playability, but possibly relating to more views and money to this game is the Level Editor, I’m no genius, (I really am) but if your making a game, and you add a level editor to your game, someone makes a level takes them two days they reload the game 10 different times, heck, that isn’t too bad, for a game that might have gotten, possibly two reloads by the same person, eh?

In my opinion, Blosics 2 is a very addictive physics/puzzle game, that I got hocked onto since the start! Blosics is easy enough for anyone to play and enjoy. The only thing in my opinion was that it lacked re-playability, which would have been a major plus if it had achievements (in-game) or some crazy thing to make you want to come back again.

Secret Exit [Game Review & Walkthrough]

Level One

Secret Exit is an addictive puzzle/platform game in which you must reach the hidden door in each level. This is a really, think-outside-the-box type of game, that reminds me a lot of Bart Bonte’s games, such as Full Moon or Me and the Key, each consisting of the addictive flavor of uniqueness and originality, much like Secret Exit. In Secret Exit your goal is to reach a door, which in each level is hidden and can only be found by completing a small task or puzzle. As addictive as this game is it contains no story-line what-so-ever, yet, strange enough I never questioned that throughout the whole entire time I spent playing the game!

This a pretty smooth flowing game, with practically no stops due to difficulties. I guess the difficulty of this game can be addressed by your ability to come up with a unique answers to each riddle, it’s all based on your capability to imagine the situation on a different level as something as you’d usually take it. Often the level comes down to one word in the riddle, which will inevitably be the decision between winning and losing! The levels overall, are extremely simple, and are practically impossible to kill yourself throughout the game, actually to be exact it is impossible to loose in any way!

The overall game is actually very easy, though it can come with some tough puzzles! In a way Secret Exit reminds me of Take Something Literally. Mainly because there are unique task that your must complete that you wouldn’t see in the average game. In one instance you must visit another site or reset your clock on your computer to a different time! I would actually say this game has any sort of difficulty ramp, of course there’s the first couple of levels to ease you into the game, but then it goes flat and really doesn’t supply you with a challenge near the end of the game.

Secret Exit is a very retro styled game. All of the graphics and music create a very retro scene. A game that I could compare this to would have to be (though I’ve only played the game for five minutes) MegaMan. The background and such is pretty basic, the only thing that concerned me throughout the game were the pipes in the background, they seem so much like they’re in with the whole platform idea, but since there part of the background it creates an unrealistic effect in the game. In my opinion, if I were to work on it a bit I would of faded out the pipes, but heck, it isn’t my game what am I to say, eh?

Level Nine-Teen

Most music in games drive me to insanity, by the time I’ve listened to it 10-50 times straight, but even as I write this I’m listening to the music (music review 101, always listen to the music, during the review!). The music has this mystery tune to it, and is easy to imagine in a detective scene or just for casual listening.

The controls overall were very simple to master. Have you ever played Super Mario? Practically the same controls. The Arrow keys control everything that happens in the game, except for a couple of stages (I won’t tell you!) and the menu. The controls are very simple in my opinion, though for some of the left handed people out there, that stick with the WASD keys, I’m sorry to say that there is no option for that! That is a major downfall to the game for me, because I know that when I play games that only allow movement through the WASD keys, I flip a bit, (through after playing Spewer for 1000 hours straight I finally got the hang of it). Anyways, you won’t have a problem with the controls, unless you use the WASD keys!

Secret Exit in my opinion has just the same amount of re-playability as another maze game on the internet. There are several ways to hook in a gamer, those being achievements, upgrades, etc. I think that if those ideas had been incorporated this would have been a more successful game, and the review would not have been finished by now, nor would I even be considering writing a review for it yet, but here I am done! Once you beat the game I see no reason to turn back and complete it. A game that fully utilized achievements and badges was Fragger, you know, it keeped you playing, but this game is flat!

Overall, I thought the game was addictive to the end. The controls are simple enough to keep, non-computer addicts interested. The game maintains simple graphics along with music that fits the scene well. The only downfall is that there is about zero re-playability, which would keep an avid gamer like me from coming back and possibly rating higher. My overall rating would have to come down to 3-3.5, somewhere around there!
